Career Opportunity: Investment Analyst (Dallas)

The investment arm of a globally recognized family office is looking to add an Analyst to its team.

This individual will be an important part of a small team based in Dallas, who are responsible for managing capital across all asset classes (e.g. fixed income, credit, public equities, private equity, real estate and venture capital). The Investment Analyst will primarily focus on the real estate and private equity portfolios but will also have exposure to investment related activities across the broader portfolio.

Responsibilities will include assisting in transaction execution, creating presentation materials, researching new opportunities, risk evaluation, cash flow projections, market research, monitoring the existing portfolio, and other ad-hoc analysis. There is substantial growth opportunity for someone that can both execute on assigned projects while also being pro-active with minimal direction.

A successful candidate must have the following:

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Proven writing abilities
  • Deep understanding of financial concepts
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivation and drive

Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of relevant direct investing experience
  • Minimum Undergraduate GPA: 3.5
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (finance, accounting, mathematics or economics) preferred
  • CFA charterholder or CFA candidate is a plus

Example Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Due Diligence: Support due diligence process for new real estate and private equity investment opportunities

  • Analyze potential investment opportunities, evaluate fit within the existing portfolio, build models, performance attribution, references, etc.
  • Conduct market research and compile internal and external data for deal analysis
  • Maintenance of due diligence documentation and procedures (track diligence process, spearhead call/meeting notes and follow-up, etc.)
  • Author internal investment committee and client facing materials
  • Assist in all aspects of transaction execution

Monitoring: Monitor existing investments and conduct/lead periodic conference calls and site visits

  • Serve as a key point person with existing and prospective partners
  • Create and maintain ongoing reporting for existing investments – tracking status, variance to business plan/budget, performance metrics

Pipeline: Maintain a pipeline of new investment opportunities by leveraging networks, attending conferences, and participation in industry peer groups

  • Screen inbound opportunities and provide input on which opportunities to prioritize
  • Develop relationships with relevant third-parties to drive pipeline activity
  • Assist with idea generation, develop investment thesis, and action plans to source new opportunities
