Our client is seeking a Senior Associate to join their team near Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The senior associate will perform financial analysis and business development. The position promotes the mission of the company and maximize shareholder value by supporting the financial and commercial activities of the business. They are growing rapidly, resulting in an agile and fast paced work environment. Primary tasks include, but are not limited to: building sustainable supply chains; capturing opportunities in the new food economy; analyzing financial data for the existing business and supporting the executive team in M&A.

The role provides personal and career development through exposure to the Private Equity sponsor of the company, and ongoing mentoring. The ideal candidate is competent in financial analysis and modeling within supply chain or agribusiness. Their experience shows that this competence is developed after four years or more experience within consulting or investment banking.

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Report and analyze company performance for the Executive Team, Board and Investors
  • Evaluate internal risk positions of the company, provide solutions to limit risk and report directly the Executive Team 
  • Serve as the primary interface with the private equity sponsor by providing information and insights
  • Employ variance analysis and comparison against forecast and budget 
  • Lead the preparation of weekly KPI reporting to drive value within business and measure performance against stated goals
  • Oversee reporting of commodity position and FX risk management

M&A / Growth / Business Development Support:

  • Provide analytical support to the Executive Team through extensive financial modeling sensitivity analysis, capex, business development, divestiture, or growth opportunities
  • Work closely with the Private Equity team to raise debt and equity capital for the company
  • Maximize shareholder value, by aligning the company’s strategic vision and growth goals with market conditions value 

Process Improvement:

  • Provide your perspective, challenge the business with a critical view, and propose opportunities for improvement, growth, integration and business plans
  • Create a data driven culture through utilization of metrics and financial reports 
  • Develop analytical tools and support the team in driving their use (Dashboards, ERP, Financial Models, Prophix).
  • Establish new KPI metrics when appropriate

Financial and Risk Management:

  • Oversee reporting of commodity position and FX risk management 
  • Complete internal risk analysis and advise the Executive Team as needed 

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Financial Analysis – Translate complex or incomplete financial data into useful insights; Integrate and interpret disparate sources of data using broad range of analytical data tools; Incorporate use of statistical methodology and predictive modeling techniques; Design, develop and implement value-added business analytics
  • Curiosity– Demonstrate high degree of curiosity; Invest time and energy into learning; Seek different points of view and perspectives (internal and external)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or other Business-related degree
  • Minimum four years of experience within Investment Banking, Consulting or Corporate FP&A Role
  • Commercial acumen to understand the business (products/services, customers, processes) and their key drivers of success (how they make money, OPEX costs, processing yields, etc.)
  • Financial modeling skills and experience managing, retrieving and reporting a diverse population of data
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English 

Desired

  • Direct agriculture or agribusiness industry experience not required, however prior experience with agribusiness, commodities or Organic, non-GMO, specialty food industry experience.
  • An MBA from an accredited university
