Position Description:
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President to join the GP Solutions team in the New York office. The GP Solutions fund provides strategic investment solutions to General Partners and owners of private market assets in the U.S. and Europe. Their strategy principally invests in best-in-class private-equity owned businesses, primarily focused on single asset GP-led continuation vehicles. By leveraging the firm’s differentiated cross-platform sector expertise and investment capabilities, they bring a “private equity” approach to diligence and underwriting in the secondary market.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in all aspects of the investing process and work closely with both associates and senior investment professionals
- Actively sourcing and identifying investment opportunities for the portfolio – both from the individual’s existing networks (intermediaries, investment banks, GPs, industry research, and direct industry contacts), as well as developing new relationships
- Leading due diligence on potential investments
This Work Includes:
- Perform initial review of business opportunities and discuss relevant factors with team members
- Supervise associates and directly participate in conducting due diligence analysis
- Work collaboratively with internal sector teams on due diligence of investment opportunities
- Lead or support due diligence workstreams such as accounting, finance, legal, and business
- Monitor and support current investments by closely monitoring the reporting received from GPs, maintaining relationships with GPs and proactively raising material updates
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree required; MBA optional
- A minimum of 3-5+ years of direct investing experience, ideally including private equity growth or buyout transaction experience; 6+ years of total work experience
- Demonstrates the capability to roll up sleeves and operate throughout each phase of the deal-making cycle
- Due diligence experience, ideally including experience overseeing third party resources (e.g. legal, accounting, commercial, etc.)
- Strong track record of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in and around transactions
- Strong quantitative capabilities, strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication is required
- Collaborative, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, strong work ethic, and history of achievement
- Possess strong EQ/IQ blend; capable of building and maintaining industry relationships across prospective investments, co-investors, and entrepreneurs; ability to develop relationships across the firm
- Demonstrated ownership and self-direction, strong project management skills and a team-based approach to workflow management is critical
