Our client is looking for a Senior Analyst to join their team in Dallas, TX. The Senior Analyst will focus on financial services private equity (M&A and portfolio management) and non-agency mortgage investments which includes helping deploy and manage a $1.3B fund that was raised at the end of 2014. The Senior Analyst will work closely with other investment professionals to analyze, develop and execute strategies that will enhance investment returns and optimize the capital structure and the cost of capital for new and existing investments. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for evaluating new acquisition opportunities, primarily in the mortgage and broader financial-services sector. Essential Functions:
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to support investment decisions and asset management activities. These modeling activities include creating complex financial statements, capital structures, and valuation models
- Perform all aspects of due diligence and underwriting
- Research and analyze target industries and proactively identify new investment opportunities
- Monitor market and industry trends
- Prepare presentation materials for senior management regarding new and existing investments
- Assist with ad hoc strategic projects
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytic and financial modeling skills
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and manage time
- Understanding of financial statements
- A self-teacher and quick learner able to pick up the technical skills necessary for any project
- Hard working, detail-oriented and committed to producing great end results
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
- Team player with a positive attitude
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or related field from a top tier university
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity or other finance-related field
- Residential mortgage experience a plus
- Investment banking/FIG experience a plus
- Structured finance and asset based investing experience is a plus
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Expert Excel and PowerPoint skills required
- Experience with SQL, CAS and VBA a plus
Compensation/Benefit Package:
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus
Vacation/Sick: 19 days per year on PTO plan
