Location: Connecticut
Our client invests in private equity funds, private equity-backed companies and other opportunistic transactions primarily by providing liquidity to existing investors via transaction sizes substantially smaller than are typical in the private equity secondary market. It is estimated there is $4-5 billion of annual volume in these “small-deal secondary” transactions that is less competitive and underserved by both large and small secondary funds where it can achieve superior risk adjusted returns. Our client manages substantial assets across a range of investment vehicles and is currently in the market raising another fund..
The firm operates a best-in-class secondaries platform with an institutional approach in areas such as transaction sourcing, deal team staffing, due diligence, finance, operations, information technology, compliance, independent oversight, attention to culture and investor relations.
The firm is 100% employee owned with >35 employees.
Experience: 2-4 years with notable experience in M&A, investment banking, strategy consulting, private equity, investment management or other relevant experience.
Skills: Microsoft Office Suite
Education: Undergraduate degree from a leading college or university preferably with a major in Finance or Economics. Please include major, GPA and standardized test scores on resume.
Associate Responsibilities:
The Associate’s principal responsibility is to assist the secondary private equity investment team in conducting due diligence and with basic deal support, including research, analysis, financial modeling and valuation, with specific responsibilities including:
- Support deal teams with company and fund-level research
- Create and maintain portfolio models and other analytical tools utilized to evaluate portfolio performance, cash flows and liquidity
- Review underlying manager quarterly reports to identify potential portfolio sales, restructurings or other investable events
- Analyze the long-term viability of portfolio companies, the market for their products/services, financing needs and exit options
- Value equity ownership in PE-backed companies
- Participate in deal meetings to determine price, structuring and negotiation tactics
- Prepare investment analysis for presentation to investment committee
- Undertake a variety of strategic and research-oriented projects

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Understanding of financial statements, financial analysis and capital structures
- Demonstrated interest in private equity and investment management financial analysis and valuation techniques
- Experience in financial modeling and forecasting (preferred)
