Senior Associate in the Mid-Atlantic Area

Our client is seeking to hire a Senior Associate to join their team for an Immediate or Summer 2018 start. Our client is a $1B Middle Market Private Equity firm in Pittsburgh, PA focused on making controlled investments in private companies headquartered in North America. Our client focuses on a variety of industry sectors including, but not limited to manufacturing, business & industrial services, and value-added distribution. 

The Senior Associate will work closely with the firm’s other investment professionals and will be involved in all aspects of the investment and portfolio management process. The Senior Associate will support the firm’s senior professionals in the execution of a transaction and will, in turn, be supported by an Associate. Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and screen deals, including industry and company research
  • Manage financial modeling and analysis
  • Produce internal and external investment documentation
  • Manage third-party due diligence providers
  • Secure deal financing from third-party lenders
  • Support transaction negotiations
  • Post-acquisition portfolio monitoring and management, including active participation as a board member and working closely with senior management teams

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of work experience in private equity with an additional 2 years of work experience in investment banking, management consulting, or corporate development / strategic planning
  • Extensive experience evaluating prospective investments with a focus on leveraged buyout transactions
  • Demonstrated track record of executing completed investments
  • Active historical participation supporting portfolio companies to identify and implement strategic initiatives
  • Strong quantitative skills and understanding of financial statements
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned projects in an unstructured environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with an exceptional work ethic
  • Master’s degree from a top MBA program considered to be a plus, but not required
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Down-to-earth and collaborative / team-oriented personality is a must
