Desired Qualifications

Candidate must have a proven track record in an engineered products construction materials company and a progressive view of culture.  The candidate must understand the operational challenges of introducing a new and game changing technology into the construction industry and must be accustomed to bringing innovative thinking to the leadership process.  Experience in rapid-growth, early-stage organizations or green field business unit startups with similar organizational dynamics is a plus.  The successful candidate must have a refined sense of the role of leadership in building a high-performance culture.

Education

An undergraduate degree is required, an engineering preferred.  An MBA and/or engineering degree a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

The role of the COO of the domestic business will include responsibilities for strategic planning, P&L, day-to-day operations in domestic engineering, manufacturing and operations, enterprise and technical information technology, managerial accounting and human resources.  The successful candidate will be tasked with executing strategy as the organization grows in the marketplace and expands regionally.  Knowledge, experience and responsibilities include:

Manufacturing and Operations

  • Through direct reports, oversee both manufacturing and project management to ensure quality, schedule adherence and cost control 
  • Ensure disciplined accounting, project reporting and minimize scope risk
  • Experience with quality management programs
  • Foster fully aligned sales-operations, customer-driven communication systems that demonstrate a true interdepartmental partnership culture
  • Work with operations leadership to develop a forward thinking resource plan

Knowledge of construction

  • Mechanical systems
  • Budget Development, Estimating and Scheduling, and Value Engineering
  • Project Management and Construction Contracts

Engineering

  • Experience with oversight of engineering leadership, including R&D, product development to market, system design engineering, and production quality
  • Familiarity with life safety regulations

Managerial Accounting (with the CFO)

  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including ability to collaborate with the CFO to develop and maintain accurate projections, cost and activity reports, performance data and other KPI’s
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a P&L
  • Oversee collaborative budgeting processes, ensuring that resources are properly allocated

Human Capital

  • Superb leadership skills 
    • Helpful leadership style 
    • Ability to lead by example, coach and mentor other associates
    • Capacity to oversee and integrate team efforts across multiple complex initiatives and projects
  • Experience with oversight of human capital leadership, including professional development, motivation, developmental performance evaluation, compensation, personnel policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in a decentralized, regional P&L organizational structure, with a highly responsive service bias.
