Our client is seeking an Associate with talent, skills, experience, and sophistication to support the company’s disciplined analytical approach to the creation of structured financial products and solutions.

ASSOCIATE ANALYST POSITION INFORMATION

The successful candidate will develop both operational and financial expertise in a variety of non-traditional asset classes, including but not limited to: non-mortgage consumer debt in various stages of distress, residential mortgage debt and real estate, litigation credit advance, and receivables from personal injury and worker’s comp insurance claims. They will support new partner and investment due diligence, trade underwriting/valuation, and portfolio management operations. Tasks will be varied, but will necessarily involve financial analysis and research, investment valuation, critical thinking, presentation of results and communication with operating partners.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be an independent, driven individual with a proven track record in quantitative and qualitative analysis in finance, investments, insurance, or private equity.

They must possess strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to analyze and value the most complex financial assets to understand the risks and rewards leading to investment recommendations. Strategic intelligence that enables them to see beyond the data, sort through alternative, and ask “what if”, strong problem solving talent, and good analytical judgment are also fundamentals of success in this role. It is essential that this person exhibits the interpersonal know-how to work with a wide variety of individuals at all levels, as well as strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, timely work product.

The right candidate will play an integral part of the client’s team, as well as in the future expansion of the company. The diverse nature of this role dictates immersion and involvement in many aspects of the business and allows for a flexible role design based on the individual talents, interests, and experiences of the right candidate.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This individual’s primary responsibility is to support new partner and investment due diligence, trade underwriting/valuation and portfolio management operations to help our client fulfill its mission. While not a comprehensive list, specific job duties associated with the key areas of support are listed below.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Analyst’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Leverage all relevant data to analyze asset liquidity and value
  • Develop, manage, and analyze performance models for underwriting asset pools
  • Develop and present Investment Committee memorandums
  • Create, monitor, and analyze partner performance at the portfolio level
  • Support due diligence on partnership opportunities
  • Utilize tools to ensure accuracy of models and reporting output
  • Identify operational improvements, trends, and opportunities as a key team contributor
  • Serve as contact point supporting data management of existing and future partnerships
  • Analyze and communicate ongoing results and analytical strategy changes to team members
  • Assist in the development of company presentations and correspondence
  • Support ad-hoc and project work

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS

Skills for success in this role include:

  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Solid understanding of business and finance
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

5-7 years of investment, investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, insurance, or similar experience. Experience in the consumer debt buying and recovery industry preferred;

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related area is preferred; and Master’s degree in related field ideal.
