Position Summary:

The Analyst will work as a member of the team to: i) manage existing portfolio investments (both debt and equity ownership positions), and ii) assist in underwriting new middle market corporate debt investments.  The Analyst will be responsible for several asset management related tasks, including spreading historical financials, building cash flow projection models, creating public comparables / transaction comparable industry sets, and maintaining detailed internal reporting templates and credit files.  The Analyst’s responsibilities will initially be focused on general asset management (with emphasis on film finance investments), with a larger involvement in the corporate credit underwriting process as commensurate with experience. 

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct credit & valuation analysis of middle market corporate loans and equity investments
  • Assist in managing and underwriting existing portfolio investments, with a strong emphasis on advanced excel modeling and ad hoc data analyses
  • Populate financial models with detailed historical statements and projections on a real-time basis
  • Research comparable market performance in various industries
  • Create and maintain industry-specific public trading comparables and relevant transaction comparable sets for valuation exercises
  • Provide industry and company-level updates to portfolio managers utilizing various internal and external resources
  • Create and maintain tracking tools for loan agreement requirements, including covenants for reporting and financial performance
  • Maintain up-to-date and seamless credit file structure with company-provided documentation

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •  Advanced understanding of financial statements and accounting
  •  Advanced ability in Excel modeling; ability to perform ad hoc excel-based analyses
  • Organized, thoughtful and immensely detail-oriented
  • Exceptional academic achievement
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, flat organizational structure

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or related business field

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in corporate finance, fixed income and leveraged finance at an investment bank, hedge fund, or private equity firm preferred
  • Prior experience in film financing a plus
  • Prior experience in credit analysis, distressed debt and/or workouts a plus
  • Prior experience with loan documentation (Credit Agreements, Intercreditor Agreements, etc.) a plus

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
